Editing the Footage 2.0

Today Suited & Booted came in to help with the more advanced aspects of editing. They talked us through adding filters and transitions and also adding titles. For our group specifically they helped us add the filter that isolates the red in the footage.

To add an effect or transition you drag and drop it from the palette on the left into the viewer

You need to add the effect called "Colour Correction 3-Way" Then use the eyedropper tool to select the colour you need to isolate, in this case the red of Abi's dress. Play around with the sliders until the colour is separated in the way you want.

For one scene, in the tunnels, the red lights made this effect useless, so I came up with the idea of making it CCTV footage, by adding filters such as white noise and a time-code reader.

We went around the room watching everyone's edit in order to see how an audience would respond to the films. After watching the other films I have decided to stray a little from the original storyboards and rearranged some of the scenes, as I think that the new layout gives the film a more cinematic look.

  1. This is great Jack, you have obviously worked very hard at learning new skills and have really pushed the boundaries with your editing. Well done.
